Davidson Water, Inc. was originally North Davidson Water, Inc., which was formed in 1968 by a group of five men who believed a reliable source of water was necessary for their community to thrive. They were visionaries who knew safe reliable water was essential for a better life. North Davidson Water, Inc. obtained a $3.68 million loan from Farmers Home Administration (now USDA) to build a 2 million gallon a day treatment plant at the Yadkin River and pipelines to approximately 2,800 residents and businesses. The loan was the largest of its kind at the time
North Davidson Water, Inc. helped start four other systems (West Davidson, East Central, Hasty and Wallburg) and in 1973, the five systems merged forming Davidson Water, Inc. Davidson Water, Inc. quickly became one of the largest rural water systems in America and a model for many other rural systems across the country.
Davidson Water, Inc. has grown to the system we are today maintaining the mission of providing safe, reliable drinking water at the lowest possible cost.
