What are Capital Credits?

- What are capital credits? Capital credits are excess margins that are created by non-profit companies. Since Davidson Water, Inc. is a not-for-profit company, we will take these margins and share it with our members/former members in the form of what is called capital credits.
- What should I do if I receive a capital credit check in someone else name? Davidson Water, Inc. would ask if you put return to sender on the envelope, and stick it back in your mailbox.
- What should I do if I receive a capital credit check in a deceased person’s name? If you are the surviving spouse, Davidson Water, Inc. can re-issue the check in that surviving spouses name with a copy of the death certificate showing they are the surviving spouse. - What is done with checks that cannot be cashed? Davidson Water, Inc. will have to escheat the money to the state of member/former member’s last known address.
- What should I do if I know I was on Davidson Water in the said year of capital credits that is being retired, but have not received a portion of capital credits? First, one should determine where they were living in said year, then they should call Davidson Water capital credits office at 336-731-5508. The capital credits specialist will be able to research the information and update any mailing address changes that need to be made.
- Can a capital credit check be issued in the current member’s name? Capital credits can only be issued in the name of the member that was on Davidson Water, in the particular year that is being retired.
