At our treatment facility located at 388 Koontz Rd. Lexington, NC, near Yadkin College, our filter wash water flows into a gravity thickener to concentrate the sludge. This concentrated sludge is then pumped to a mechanical press which removes the water and produces a dry sludge used for agricultural land application. The water removed through this process along with our settling basin sediment flows into two wastewater ponds from which solids are removed. Following solids removal, decant water is then recycled into our raw water reservoirs or returned to the Yadkin River.
There were no violations of permit conditions, environment regulations, or environmental laws during the year of 2021.
